Meet Melissa and Molly

Melissa Greer

My personal experiences and struggles with the grief associated with miscarriage has brought me to focus on pregnancy losses of all kinds. Be it abortion grief, spontaneous or medical miscarriages, or stillbirth, I will strive to help birthing folx navigate this very difficult and sometimes abstract grief by giving them a listening ear, tools like rituals and ceremony, and resources to get the extended help they may need in their area. Dealing with the loss of a pregnancy is profound and special and requires a particular understanding of its complexities. I hope to be able to help shape a new way of grieving for those experiencing pregnancy loss.

Additionally, I have training and interest in working with people experiencing disenfranchised grief due to loss to an addiction, overdose or drug use. I truly believe that pregnancy loss, abortion grief and overdose or drug use loss do not follow a typical grief pattern and I hope to present those suffering from it with the safe space that they need.

With an interest and training in sound healing and meditation, I enjoy creating safe, cozy spaces and helping others be gentle with themselves.

I’m not a stranger to death, having lost many beloved family members and pets throughout my life; however, the death of my mother in 2020 is what encouraged me to look at end-of-life and grief support as a line of work.

When my mother died, I saw firsthand that our current systems are not set up to allow space for grief and mourning. Navigating my grief while also trying to sort through family heirlooms, handle estate and financial needs, and continue my regular work and life felt isolating and overwhelming.

While I originally held a more traditional end-of-life doula role when Mourning Feather Doulas began, the sudden death of my brother in 2023 led to a shift in my energy, and I now focus primarily on grief support. I aim to offer friendly and ‘come as you are’ peer support to community members as they navigate grief, caregiving, and the processing of loss and life transitions.

I like to incorporate nature into my grief work whenever possible and love gathering with other grievers over a cup of coffee or a walk in nature.
